Hyundai Ioniq 5 attempts Guinness World Records challenge

Hyundai has announced that its Ioniq 5 has attempted and is now the proud holder of the Guinness World Records title for the Greatest altitude change by an electric car.

The challenge was accepted and organised by Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) with the Ioniq 5, achieving the record of registering an altitude change of 5,802-metres. This began at Umling La in Leh Ladakh, 5,799-metres above sea level, and ended 14 days later at Kuttanad in Kerala, just three metres below sea level.

Tackling a route distance of more than 4,900km in harsh environments - from freezing temperatures and steep mountain passes in the Himalayas to humid coastal regions in Kerala - the Ioniq 5 demonstrated its resilience, advanced technology, and superior performance.

Developed on the state-of-the-art Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the Ioniq 5 is said to offer exceptional range and safety features, in addition to modern technologies.
