Hyundai has revealed a new Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup car.
The new car has been designed to compete in a new FIA eN1 class that will be introduced later this year which will operate under open regulations so that teams can compete with various tyre products without being restricted to a single manufacturer.
The Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup car gets the same powertrain as the Ioniq 5 N, but gets a racing front lip and rear wing for increased aerodynamic performance
Hyundai states that the new Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup car utilises the same power electronics as the production Ioniq 5 N, so it gets a total power output of 641bhp.
But the outside of the Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup car has been extensively redesigned. New here are the wheel fenders, front lip, and rear wing, to give the car a wider track alongside improved aerodynamic performance.
The cup car also gets forged wheels, a bonnet made from fibre reinforced polymers, as well as polycarbonate windows, all to save weight of course, and interestingly, race teams will also be able to develop their own unique racing sounds for their vehicle.
The Ioniq 5 N eN1 Cup car also comes complete with the essential safety elements including roll cages, racing bucket seats and seat belts, alongside a host of additions designed specifically for electric vehicle racing include fire extinguishers exclusively for electric fires, asphyxiation fire extinguishers, and a modified charge port location.
