Hyundai has unveiled the anticipated Ioniq 5 N at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
On the exterior, the high-performance electric SUV gets a more aggressive front bumper complete with a lip spoiler to emphasise the car's low-slung stance.
This stance comes courtesy of a ride height that is lowered by 20mm. The Ioniq 5 N is also wider than the regular Ioniq 5 by 50mm so as to accommodate wider tyres. 21-inch forged aluminum wheels wrapped in Pirelli P-Zero tyres no doubt also add to the look, while improving grip.
That Luminous Orange touch on the black front bumper continues on to the car's side skirts, and is said to be an N-exclusive colour. At the rear, the Ioniq 5 N gets an N-only rear spoiler complete with a triangular HMSL brake light, alongside a rear diffuser that also gets a lick of orange.
Under this body, the Ioniq 5 N gets a 641bhp all-electric drivetrain powered by an 84kWh battery. As revealed in June 2023, drivers of the car will be able to choose from a host of settings to optimise both the energy consumption and battery thermal management system.
A regenerative system capable of delivering a maximum of 0.6G of decelerative force, alongside 400mm diameter front discs with four-piston monobloc callipers and 360mm rear discs, will provide stopping power in the Ioniq 5 N.
The car will also come with a 10-speaker system that offers three distinct sound themes ranging from a simulated 2.0-litre engine, to one that is inspired by twin-engine fighter jets, and a third that is inspired by the sound of the RN22e.
This speaker system will pair with an 'N e-shift' system that will control the torque from the electric motor to deliver jolts as if the car is powered by an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Hyundai states that the body-in-white structure of the Ioniq 5 N has received increased welding points as well as additional adhesives, while the motor and battery mountings have also been reinforced all to raise lateral rigidity.
The car also gets World Rally Championship-inspired integrated drive axles for reduced unsprung mass. Concurrently, the steering column has been modified for improved rigidity, while offering a higher ratio and enhanced torque feedback.
