Hyundai reveals the Veloster rally car

The Veloster rally car was built from the ground up and features a stitch-welded chassis, a custom suspension, a race-spec interior, and 18-inch HRE wheels with Hankook tires. With its carbon Kevlar body panels, the Velostar rally car weighs in at just 1205kg.

Under the bonnet, the Velostar rally car is powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that produces 500bhp and 813Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via an Xtrac six-speed sequential transmission and an all-wheel drive system.

I teamed up with Rhys' father, Rod, nearly twenty years ago for Hyundai's original Pikes Peak rally program, so it is great to be back in the sport again with his son inspiring a new generation."

Hyundai will build three Veloster rally cars for the Rhys Millen Racing team, and the car will compete in the U.S. Rallycross Championship and the Summer X Games, piloted by Rhys Millen himself, freestyle motocross rider Robbie Maddison, and five-time British Rally Champion Marcus Dodd.
