Kia claims the uniquely designed Soul EV is perfectly suited for city commuters thanks to its class-leading driving range, a spacious cabin and generous cargo area.
Featuring a high-capacity 192-cell 27kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack, the Soul EV's driving range for Europe is certified for 212km.
Key enablers for the Soul EV's outstanding drive range are industry-leading 200Wh/kg cell energy density and a number of state-of-the-art energy saving features, including a new individual ventilation system that ensures maximum driving range without losing energy.
The Soul EV also employs regenerative braking to capture and recycle the kinetic energy into the battery while the car is coasting and braking. The battery pack is mounted beneath the cabin, ensuring a low centre of gravity and contributing to the car's accomplished ride, handling and refinement.
In addition, the new Soul EV has achieved the world automotive industry's first UL Environment Validation for containing 23,942g of bio-based plastic and 10 percent bio-based organic carbon content.
Kia Motors has began volume production of its new Kia Soul Electric Vehicle (EV) for export sales. The first EVs to roll off the production line are destined for selected countries in Europe and are scheduled to go on sale across the continent during the second half of the year.
