Kia's electric lineup in Singapore has now grown to four models, following the launch of the EV4. The large electric sedan joins the EV5 SUV, EV6 crossover, and EV9 seven-seater SUV.
Underpinned by Kia's Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV4's road presence is magnified by its unique design, featuring a "Star Map" lighting signature at the front end, while the vertical taillights and two-piece spoiler define the rear. Sculpted surfaces and character lines can be found throughout the body.
Further enhancing the car's road presence are its dimensions. It measures 4,730mm long and 1,860mm wide, but has a lower-slung height of 1,480mm. For roominess, the wheelbase measures 2,820mm. But with a drag coefficient of 0.23, the EV4 is actually Kia's most aerodynamic production model.
The EV4's interior presents what Kia describes as a "modern haven of space and comfort," featuring a distinctive free-floating interface and minimalist layout. A standout panoramic display seamlessly integrates a 12.3-inch digital driver cluster, a 5.3-inch climate control display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen.
Physical controls for frequently used functions are still used. The addition of a tilting and sliding panoramic sunroof enhances the cabin's spacious feel, complemented by a premium sound system.
Despite its sleek exterior proportions, the EV4 delivers impressive interior space thanks to its E-GMP platform's flat floor and extended wheelbase. The sedan offers 490 litres of cargo capacity, expandable to 1,680 litres with folded rear seats. Meanwhile, the high-output USB-C ports provide up to 100W for fast device charging.
At the heart of the EV4 sits a fourth-generation electric powertrain featuring advanced thermal management and an EV6-derived heat pump. The front-wheel drive layout delivers 150kW (201bhp) and 283Nm of torque, achieving 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds.
Feeding the motor is a 58.3kWh battery that delivers a range of up to 546km (WLTP city) with an energy consumption of 6.7km/kWh. With regard to recharging, the battery can be topped up from 10% to 80% in 29 minutes with a 150kW DC charger. With an 11kW AC charger, the process takes three hours and 43 minutes.
Driver-assistance technologies include a 12-inch head-up display with augmented reality navigation and a Surround View Monitor system providing 360-degree visibility.
The Kia EV4 is now available at a launch price of $225,999.
