09 Jan 2013|5,612 views
2013 marks the 50th anniversary - an important milestone in the glorious history of Lamborghini. The Italian automaker has responded in kind, with a special announcement to push the Sesto Elemento concept into production, in line with earlier speculations.
First showcased over two years ago, Lamborghini has stayed true to its promise to produce the model, albeit in a very limited run of 20 units. The exclusivity justifies its hefty price tag of €1.5 million (approx S$2.4 million).
The production version makes extensive use of the company's in-house CFRP (Carbon Fibre Reinforced Plastic) technology, keeping the power to weight ratio down to just 1.75kg/bhp. The model will inherit the 562bhp V10 engine from the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superlegga to blitz the first 100km/h in just 2.5 seconds.
Production of the Sesto Elemento will be likely span over five different plants. Final assembly will take place at the new Pre-Series Center, which is responsible for prototype development and creating secretive new lightweight skins for future supercars.
As you would expect with its price tag, every bit of the car will be meticulously inspected to make sure it's perfect and exclusive for its 20 unique, wealthy customers.
