Lamborghini has opened new chapter in its history with the unveiling of its Urus SE.
The first plug-in hybrid Lamborghini Super SUV was unveiled at the Volkswagen Group Media Night before it made its public debut at Auto China Beijing 2024. The Urus comes with two hearts - a thermal and an electric one - while giving out the highest ever torque and power values seen from the Lamborghini Urus alongside an 80% reduction in emissions.
This drivetrain comprises of a twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 engine that develops peak power of 612bhp alongside a total of 800Nm of torque. The electric powertrain which is combined with this combustion unit, meanwhile, delivers 189bhp and 483Nm of torque. Combined, the Lamborghini Urus SE develops a whopping system total of 789bhp.
The electric motor of the Urus SE is placed inside its eight-speed automatic transmission, allowing the vehicle to drive all four wheels even when utilising only electric power, and facilitating an electric-only range of 60km.
The plug-in hybrid drivetrain also means the Urus SE has an enhanced weight-to-power ratio as compared to the Urus S, and allows the car to sprint from zero to 100km/h in just 3.4 seconds and on to a top speed of 312km/h, the Urus SE is claimed by Lamborghini to be the fastest production car in its segment.
The Urus SE also features an exterior that is updated from the petrol-only Urus that you're already familiar with.
The front section of the Super SUV now features a new hood with a floating design. The floating design creates an absence of the cut-off line, giving a sense of continuity while amplifying the athletic style of the SE. Key exterior highlights here also include a brand new light signature inspired by the tail of the Lamborghini's bull, alongside a redesigned bumper and front grill.
The rear cargo compartment hatch has also been redesigned, introducing a Gallardo-inspired continuity, harmonising lines by connecting the taillight clusters with the Y-shaped lights and a new rear diffuser. Working hand in hand with the new spoiler, the diffuser increases the rear downforce by 35% at high speeds, enhancing stability.
The cabin of the Lamborghini Urus makes use of a 12.3-inch screen installed in the centre of the dashboard. This screen features a new version of the firm's Human Machine Interface (HMI), consistent with that of the Revuelto. This screen also pairs with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster which comes with a dedicated telemetry system and new displays related to the driving assistance systems, allowing for better perception of the surrounding environment.
Additional attention was given to the air vents which now features anodised alumimium trim elements alongside the iconic Y shape. Also new here are the seat and dashboard coverings, while a new mechanical pushbutton panel has been redesigned to give off a more tactile feel.
Customers will be able to opt for their Urus SE with a new 23-inch Galanthus rims paired with new Pirelli P Zero tyres, although Scorpion Winter 2 tyres are also available.
The colour palette has also been expanded with over 100 bodywork options available, including two new colours - Arancio Egon (orange), in combination with an interior in Arancio Apodis (orange), and Bianco Sapphirus (white) with interior in Terra Kedros (terracotta).
Also offered for the interior of the Urus SE are a total of 47 colour combinations and four types of embroidery. Those who wish to truly make their vehicles one-of-a-kind, however, may do so with the help of the Ad Personam programme.
