Lamborghini has revealed the first details of the new engine that will power the successor to the Huracan, currently codenamed '634'.
This new engine will now take the form of a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8, and come combined with a hybrid system and an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox not unlike the system found in the Lamborghini Revuelto. Lamborghini states that the new engine is a clean sheet design and will offer a total power output of 789bhp alongside 730Nm of torque.
The new electrified 4.0-litre V8 will deliver a system total in excess of 900bhp, and come paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox
Paired with a 147bhp electric system, however, the total system output of this drivetrain will be more than 900bhp - a fair bit more than the 631bhp that the 5.2-litre V10 produced in the Huracan STO.
For those thinking they will miss the power delivery, immediacy of response, and sound of a naturally-aspirated V10, there's good news: Lamborghini states that this new 4.0-litre engine will deliver the "high linearity of progression" that has made is V10 famous, with peak torque delivered from 4,000rpm to 7,000rpm, and scream to a whopping maximum engine speed of 10,000rpm.
And on the sound front, the new V8 will additionally "intensify in a crescendo that at high revs reaches its peak in terms of volume and frequency… (to) create an all-encompassing sensory experience".
Lamborghini is set to reveal this new engine alongside the upcoming '634' later in 2024.
