Singapore is home to many EV brands, and this segment continues to grow with the arrival of Leapmotor, a Chinese brand owned by Stellantis.
Leapmotor's foray here is spearheaded by the C10, a mid-to-large size SUV. Measuring 4,739mm long and standing 1,680mm tall, the C10 is comparable in size to a Tesla Model Y. It is one of the biggest Cat A COE SUVs available today, and it is currently priced at $187,999.
Design-wise, the C10 is modern-looking, with sleek head lights and a slim light bar at the rear. Inside, you'll find a clean and minimalist space, with the cockpit hosting a 10.25-inch instrument panel and a 14.6-inch touchscreen for the infotainment.
The C10's equipment is on a par with competitors. The standard kit includes ventilated and heated front seats, dual-zone climate control, an 840-watt, 12-speaker audio system, and ambient lighting. A remote vehicle control app is also available so that owners can connect to and monitor the car. For practicality, the C10 has a 435-litre boot, and a 32-litre frunk.
One unique feature of the C10 is that its seats are upholstered in OEKO-TEK Standard 100 fabric. The material - including threads, buttons, and accessories - is certified to be free from harmful substances. This will appeal to those who are concerned about allergies and health in general.
Safety-wise, the C10 is equipped with seven airbags, a 360-degree Panoramic Camera with Transparent Chassis, and LEAP Pilot, a suite of 17 driver assistance and safety features.
In addition, the car has a torsional rigidity of 42,500Nm/degree, which is in the same league as some luxury cars. Nuclear submarine-grade 2,000MPa thermoformed steel is even used on the side impact crossbeams of the C10's doors.
In terms of performance, the C10's motor produces 100kW and 320Nm of torque, enabling the SUV to go from rest to 100km/h in 10.7 seconds. Leapmotor claims the model averages 5.3km/kWh and has a combined driving range of 419km. However, the brand says the city drive range is much longer at 565km.
In Singapore, Leapmotor is represented by Cycle & Carriage, which has an existing partnership with Stellantis as the agent for Citroen and Peugeot. Leapmotor is also Cycle & Carriage's third Chinese EV brand after Maxus, and ORA.
