Leapmotor has showcased its first vehicle set to arrive in Singapore at The Car Expo, just seven months after local distributor Cycle & Carriage Singapore first announced that it would be taking on distributorship of the brand.
Called the C10, the all-electric SUV from the Hangzhou-based firm measures in at 4,739mm long and 1,900mm wide (so quite a bit longer and a just touch wider than a Toyota RAV4 Hybrid), and is expected to duck under the requirements to be registered with a Cat A COE when it launches here.
Features present in the showcased Leapmotor C10 include ventilated front seats as well as an inductive smartphone charger
And it has the looks to take on some of the best family SUVs available here. Highlights here include a sleek head light arrangement as well as full-width taillights, flush door handles, and a rear wiper that is discreetly hidden away under its rear spoiler.
But there's more to look forward to when you step within the Leapmotor C10. For starters, the SUV features a 10.25-inch instrument cluster paired with a 14.6-inch infotainment display, and the showcased car at Singapore Expo was equipped with an inductive smartphone charger to boot. Also present in the showcased car were features such as ventilated front seats and a voice-recognition system.
For the more practical-minded, the C10 translates its generous proportions into good knee room for rear passengers, while its boot offers a total of 435 litres of space. This can be further expanded to a total of 1,410 litres with the rear seats folded. Leapmotor claims that there are a total of 26 storage spaces in this cabin, with 10 in the first row, 10 in the second row, and another six offered in the boot.
Leapmotor also points out that the SUV comes equipped with 3D ergonomic seats, which utilise a combination of seven layers of different hardness and low-lag foam to optimally distribute body pressure, so as to raise driver and passenger comfort on longer journeys.
The Leapmotor C10 is offered in Europe with a 160kW motor that delivers 320Nm of peak torque. This is powered by a 69.9kWh battery pack that gives Europe-bound models a 420km WLTP range. This battery pack can also be charged at a maximum power of 6.6kW if you're at an alternating current charger. Charging at a direct current charger, meanwhile, is simply said to only take 30 minutes.
The Leapmotor C10 is priced to compete against models such as the BYD Atto 3 and Hyundai Kona Electric in the U.K.
Cycle & Carriage Singapore is expecting to launch the C10 here in Singapore in the coming months.
