The iconic London black taxi will soon be remembered rather differently.
The London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) has announced that there are now more of its TX plug-in range extender taxis than diesel TX4s plying the streets of London.
The firm states that its TX taxi now represents more than 40% of official black cabs, with more than 6,000 examples now operating in the capital.
Powered by a plug-in hybrid range extender, the LEVX TX taxi is said to have already travelled more than 859 million kilometres globally, saving up to 162,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere since it was introduced in 2018.
