Lexus releases hybrid variant for GS model

Hybrid has been the choice of Lexus to go green, since its embarkation into technology R&D to produce environmentally-friendly vehicles. Since then, a number of firsts have been achieved, including the World’s first hybrid SUV – the Lexus 450h, and recently the CT200h, a hybrid luxury hatchback.
The GS model is the latest addition to the hybrid line-up. Unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the GS 450h sports a new V6 engine and a revised hybrid system. The hybrid variant produces 340hp, 38hp more than the entry-level V6 and only 2hp short of the V8. Lexus claims the new model has significantly improved throttle response, performance and efficiency. Acceleration from 0-96kmh takes 5.7 seconds, and fuel economy for combined cycle is at 13.2km/l, compared to 12.6km/l of the current model.
The GS 450h will also boost a variety of accessories, such as an industry-first 12.3 inch media display with split screen capability, with blue-tooth, entertainment, parking assist incorporated. In addition, a number of luxury extras will also be offered for the discerning motorists, such as 17-speaker Mark Levinson stereo system and a navigation suite which comprise of GPS and internet connectivity.
