LG Electronics to unveil transparent film-type antenna

LG Electronics has announced it will unveil a new transparent antenna for vehicles at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The film-type antenna, developed in collaboration with French glass manufacturer, Saint-Gobain Sekurit, and has been designed to be compatible wit a variety of glass and vehicle designs, and is available as in on-glass or in-glass solution, allowing it to be integrated into vehicles without any design concessions.

It additionally guarantees reliable communication performance, with improved connectivity to support 5G networks, the Global Navigation Satellite System, as well as Wi-Fi. The film-type antenna is said to feature more than 80 of LG's patented innovations, including the design capability to make antenna patterns transparent and transparent electrode technology. The new antenna also removes the need for the kind of housing typically required to accommodate conventional antennas.
