Lotus Exige S240 reveals new look
06 Oct 2009|2,915 views
The redesigned front end includes a larger air intake to channel more air into the radiator for better engine efficiency, as well as two additional intakes on the sides to feed air to the twin oil coolers. Horizontal slats across these twin oil coolers stabilise the airflow. There is also a new lightweight composite front splitter at the bottom of the front bumper to deflect air around the tyres and reduce drag.
Other design changes include a new composite rear spoiler, based on the one seen on the Lotus Exige GT3 car that was seen at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show. The new rear wing is stiffer and helps smooth out airflow behind the car.
The Exige S240 uses a Toyota-supplied 1.8-litre engine that is supercharged to produce 240bhp, which allows it to go from 0-100km/h in just 4.1 seconds, with a top speed of 241km/h, which is no doubt helped by the 942kg curb weight.
Other features on the new Lotus Exige S240 include Lotus’ track-tuned and adjustable launch control system, Lotus’ trademark suspension setup, as well as airbags and tyre pressure monitoring system.
