Lotus is launching its first ever bespoke service

As the groundbreaking Eletre SUV continues to win new customers over, Lotus has announced its first ever bespoke service, Lotus Chapman Bespoke, named after its founders, Colin and Hazel Chapman. 

Lotus Cars was founded by the couple in 1984, in London, U.K. Today, many of the designs, technologies and innovations seen in motor-racing can be attributed to mind (and hand) of Colin Chapman. 

The Eletre - which means "coming to life" - is Lotus' first SUV, marking the brand's entrance into the world of four-doored high-riders

As the first service of its kind to be offered by Lotus Cars, Lotus Chapman Bespoke is said to connect the spirit of the Lotus Founders with drivers of today. The service allows customers to customise their cars in their own unique way - similar to what Colin Chapman, who was known for ignoring the status quo and famous for carving his own path, would have done. 

The service provides three levels of personalisation and customisation for customers to choose from, including 'Tailor-made', 'Collection' and finally, 'One-off'. 

'Tailor-made' allows customers to pick a personalised combination from a palate of colours and design. They are also able to finish their car off with various personal touches and details.

'Collection', on the other hand, provides customers with a selection of limited edition designs to choose from. These are brought to life not just with partners of the brand, but also artists, and other like-minded luxury brands. 

Finally, 'One-off' should be self-explanatory. Here, customers are able to build their very own car - one as unique as they are.

Speaking on the news, Clive Chapman, Director of Classic Team Lotus (who also happens to be son of Colin Chapman himself), stated that his parent's dynamic personalities helped to pave the way for innovative automotive designs for the enjoyment of drivers. With Lotus Chapman Bespoke now, drivers are also able to enjoy the process of creating and driving their own innovations. 

Lotus states that the arrival of Lotus Chapman Bespoke arrives in response to demand for bespoke services from the brand. After an exclusive first launch in China from 25 April 2024, the carmaker plans to roll out this service across the globe in the following months.
