Lotus kills the Europa

Lotus dealers in Europe have already removed the Europa from their price lists, with Lotus starting to wind down production of the car. Lotus is expected to officially end production of the Europa by the third quarter of this year.
The Elise-based Europa never sold in large numbers, and Lotus is banking on the Evora, which was launched last year, to be its mainstream coupe product. Sources claim that the Europa was a stopgap measure to fill the gap before the launch of the Evora.
The Europa was launched in 2006, and had a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produced 200bhp and 270Nm of torque. The top of the range SE variant, launched in 2008, churned out 220bhp and 270Nm of torque.
