Lotus launches its flagship SUV, Eletre, in Singapore

Just four months after the preview of Lotus' first-ever electric Hyper-SUV in Singapore, the Eletre made its entry into the local market yesterday.
Unveiled at an official launch event exclusive to the media was the Eletre S, this time in a bright coat of Galloway Green. We've spoken at considerable length about the Eletre's significance to the Lotus brand back when the car was previewed here, but it's worth noting - now that we've confirmed what Singapore will be getting - that the only other variant that will be on sale here is the Eletre R.
When asked how one could tell the Eletre S and Eletre R apart from each other, Lotus admitted there is no distinction between the two - at least from the outside - if the Carbon Pack is fitted on the S (this, in turn, is a feature standard on the R).
The Eletre is designed to optimise aerodynamic performance and offer an immersive lifestyle experience for the driver and passengers
Equipped with the Lotus ICC intelligent torque distribution, the Eletre S' dual-motor powertrain can send power variably to all four wheels, and is capable of 450kW (603bhp) and 710Nm of torque. This means the Eletre S can complete the century sprint in a scant 4.5 seconds.
The same powertrain delivers even more power on the Eletre R - peak output stands at 675kW (903bhp) and 985Nm - that takes it to 100km/h in just 2.95 seconds. Still, the Eletre S does not pale in comparison to its counterpart given how it can hit a top speed of 258km/h, against the Eletre R's 265km/h.
Both the Eletre S and Eletre R embody the sports car brand's first attempt at producing a lifestyle vehicle, which stays true to its racecar DNA. How Lotus strikes this perfect balance is by optimising hypercar design language - the secret behind the Eletre's unique visual drama and aerodynamic performance. On the inside is a digital cockpit unlike any Lotus that came before the Eletre.
A 15.1-inch high definition OLED screen folds forward as the driver starts the car. The executive four-seat configuration option even grants passengers in the backseat direct access to functions - such as curating the ambient lighting, or controlling the panoramic sunroof - via their own dedicated rear touchscreen. And, completing the immersive in-car experience is none other than the built-in KEF speakers that bring Dolby Atmos from the cinemas to your drives.
What makes the Eletre variants even more special is their status as the world's first all-electric Hyper-SUVs. Designed with industry-leading EV architecture, both variants of the Eletre are powered by a 112kWh battery that supports rapid DC charging at up to 350kW, with which it can be charged up from 10 to 80% in just 20 minutes.
Customers are unlikely to feel range anxiety no matter which variant they go for; the more powerful Eletre R already gets a WLTP-rated range of 490km, while the Eletre S can go up to 600km on a single charge. On the SUV's rear, the light blade that runs across glows green when charging, doubling up as a real-time indicator for battery levels.
We can expect to see the Eletre S and Eletre R on Singapore roads as early as December 2023. The base model, Lotus Eletre, which was revealed to the world in 2022, will not be made available to the region, and will thus also not be sold locally.
