The Land Transport Authority (LTA) has responded to media reports that Malaysia will raise current toll rates or add new ones at the Causeway and Second Link, saying that Singapore will match those set by Malaysia.
The Straits Times reported that according to media reports, the Malaysian authorities will increase toll charges for all vehicles except motorcycles entering Johor from Singapore, as well as impose a new Causeway toll for vehicles heading out to Singapore from Johor.
An LTA spokesman told the local papers that it has always been in practice that Singapore's toll fees are pegged to match that of Malaysia's. The spokesman added that the local authority has yet to receive a verification from the Malaysian side about the reported changes.
Earlier, Malaysia has announced that it will impose an entry fee on all foreign-registered vehicles entering Johor, following LTA's announcement that Singapore will raise the Vehicle Entry Permit and Goods Vehicle Permit fees for foreign-registered vehicles entering Singapore.
