Makkina revives Triumph name with electric TR25 concept

Automotive design house Makkina has revived the Triumph brand with the reveal of this electric TR25 concept car.
Built to mark 100 years since the Triumph name first appeared on a production car and the 70th anniversary since the 'Jabbeke' Triumph TR2 broke the land speed record for production cars with engines smaller than 2.0-litres of capacity, the electric TR25 is said to embody the record-breaking car's attributes in a contemporary way with realistic proportions that remain true to the Triumph brand.
The car has been built with blessings from the BMW Group, which own the rights to the Triumph name. But the link to BMW does not end there. The TR25 concept also makes use of the platform of the BMW i3S, which allow Makkina to give the concept car a 50:50 weight distribution, alongside compact proportions, and a low centre of gravity - all very fitting for a Triumph.
Further building the association with Triumph's historic cars is the TR25 concept's sleek exterior and two distinctive head lights. An updated version of the Triumph Motor Company's emblem also features at the front of the car, which comes in a single-seat configuration, although a flip-out jump seat is available for a passenger.
The cockpit of the TR25, meanwhile, takes on a minimalistic design, with the total number of instruments and controls minimised to place focus on the driving experience. A self-centering dial features in the steering wheel, offering all vital information while a centre binnacle shows vehicle speed, charge level, and battery range.
