Mazda CX-5 SUV unveiled ahead of Frankfurt Motor Show

The CX-5 is based on the Minagi concept car that was first shown at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, and Mazda says that the car is the first to use the Japanese carmaker’s KODO design philosophy that was seen on the Minagi and Shinari concept cars.This means that the CX-5 features a prominent front fascia and a more dynamic styling which the company says conveys "a strong sense of vitality and agility”. The CX-5 is also the first model in Mazda’s line-up to adopt the full range of the company's SKYACTIV technologies.
The CX-5 will be available with various engine options, depending on the market, but Europe will get a SKYACTIV-G 2.0-litre petrol engine as well as a SKYACTIV-D 2.2-liter diesel in two configurations, Standard and High Power. The Mazda CX-5 will be officially launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.
