McLaren 720S ushers in a new era for the second generation Super Series

Following its global debut on 7 March at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show, the McLaren 720S made its Asia Pacific premiere on 15 March at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The 720S introduces the highly anticipated second generation McLaren Super Series - the supercar product family at the heart of the McLaren brand - which will see up to 15 new models, in line with the British marque's Track22 Business Plan.
The new M480T engine powering the 720S continues the lineage of McLaren's multiple award-winning, twin-turbocharged V8 engine series. This new 4.0-litre engine generates a maximum of 710bhp and up to 770Nm of torque. The supercar completes the century sprint in 2.9 seconds, 0-200km/h in 7.8 seconds, and reaches a top speed of 341km/h. It comes to a complete stop from 200km/h in 4.6 seconds over a stopping distance of 117m.
A dual-clutch, seamless-shift gearbox with paddleshift controls delivers power to the rear wheels, and can either shift between the seven gear ratios automatically or defer to the driver having full manual control. A launch control function delivers 2.8-second 0-100km/h runs, reflecting the overall experience of sharper, faster gear changes quicker than that achieved by a McLaren 675LT and creating a deep sense of mechanical connection between car and driver.
McLaren Variable Drift Control is a new, electronic control feature making its debut on the 720S. Available when the stability control system is switched to Dynamic and the Active Dynamics Panel is set to either Sport or Track, Variable Drift Control allows the driver to determine the level of traction control assistance and oversteer.
In Slim Display Mode, only the minimum required information is displayed in a strip, further improving forward visibility and allowing the driver to place the car even more precisely in a corner. This is ideal for drivers looking for minimal distraction, especially useful for the track.
The new McLaren 720S is now available to order from McLaren retailers, with the first customers scheduled to receive their cars in May. Three grades of specification are offered, with Performance and Luxury trims extending above the Standard level, all of which are complemented by a range of option packs.
The new 720S is also eligible to be covered by the McLaren Extended Warranty; available from time of first purchase in 12 or 24-month periods until the vehicle is 10-years old, the warranty makes it possible to cover a 720S for up to 12 years. Pricing for the 720S starts from $990,000 excluding COE.
