Mercedes-Benz cooperates with Formitalia and presents first furniture collection

A luxury apartment called Hamilton at Scotts is one of only three places in the world with your own car porch in the sky, which basically means you can drive your car home and park it near the living room like a trophy.

Similarly if you own a Mercedes and have always wanted to bring it home, now you can. Mercedes-Benz in collaboration with, Italian luxury group Formitalia, has created a furniture collection under the Mercedes-Benz Style label. The collection will be presented at the Milan Furniture Fair (Salone Internazionale del Mobile) from the 17th till 22nd April 2012 in Milan.

Like Mercedes-Benz, Mercedes-Benz Style stands for technology and engineering-driven innovations. Mercedes-Benz Style provides intelligent design and styling through distinctive use of innovative materials, colour values, shapes and the use of light. The furniture collection gives the impression of floating in space.

Gorden Wagener, Head of Design at Mercedes-Benz explained how Formitalia and Mercedes-Benz stand for top quality and exquisite workmanship which embodies luxury and passion. "The various pieces of furniture reflect the progressive, dynamic design idiom of our current show cars and concept vehicles, offering an exclusive, emotional experience outside our vehicles as well".

The collection comprises one sofa, a chaise longue, a dining room table, various chairs, a sideboard, a shelf unit with integrated home theatre system, a chest of drawers and a bed. All pieces are produced by Formitalia and will be sold globally from October 2012, through exclusive furniture stores, showrooms and interior design stores.

Gianni Simone Overi, CEO of the Formitalia Luxury Group mentioned they admire the superb design skills and high-quality materials of Mercedes-Benz and are delighted to be able to bring the elegance of Mercedes and sense of well-being home. Each seating furniture offers elegant design with outstanding comfort. The upholstered leather padding and a distinctively styled aluminium frame provides a visually appealing contrast.

The visual dynamic of the seating furniture is carried over to the dining room table and sideboard. Four elegantly sculptured legs extend out from the central aluminium beam. The table top is made of grey-shaded clear glass. The sideboard has a glass door with a surrounding bevel much similar to the air intake on a sports car. The furniture collection is said not to have lost its automotive identity and bears a subtle Mercedes-Benz Style logo, though by looking at the pictures, it looks just like any other expensive pieces of furniture that you might find at ION Orchard or Paragon.

It is to be believed that Mercedes-Benz is likely to team up Switzerland based Jura Elektroapparate AG, makers of coffee machines next to create a specific coffee roast that best represents the Mercedes Benz experience. Ok we are kidding on the coffee machine, though now that we have plotted the idea - we wonder how a Mercedes-Benz coffee would smell like.
