Mercedes-Benz releases pictures and details of the new CLS

The all new CLS will go on sale across Europe early next year, and Mercedes-Benz has now released official pictures and details of its four-door luxury coupe. Three engines will be available at launch, with high-performance models such as the CLS55 AMG expected to follow afterwards.

The entry-level model available at launch will be the CLS250 CDI BlueEfficiency, which will be powered by a 2.1-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that produces 204bhp. The next model in the range would be the CLS350 CDI BlueEfficiency, which has a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel that produces.

Finally, the sole petrol model that will be offered at launch will be the CLS350 BlueEfficiency, which has a 3.5-litre six-cylinder unit that produces 306bhp. All engines will have direct injection, and will be available with Mercedes-Benz's seven-speed G-Tronic Plus transmission.

Mercedes-Benz has also announced the options available for the new CLS, with a special "Edition 1" package available to early-bird customers which comes with manganite grey matte paint, pearl metallic leather upholstery, a dark roof liner, aluminium pedals and special floor mats. Other extra options include LED headlights, parking assist as well as a sporty AMG Carbon trim kit.
