Mercedes-Benz SL600 and SL 65 AMG dropped

The SL600, which is powered by a twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V12 with 510bhp, was the first to be removed from Mercedes-Benz’s line-up. This was followed by the SL 65 AMG, which has a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre V12 with 604bhp and 1000Nm of torque.

Mercedes-Benz claims that the two V12-powered roadsters are dropped so as to prepare for the launch of the all new SL model, which is expected to be released next year. However, speculation remains that the halo SLS AMG supercar is stealing sales from the powerful V12-powered SL roadsters

The sole remaining V12-powered SL model is now the SL 65 AMG Black Series. Mercedes-Benz has not confirmed though if there would be a direct replacement for the SL600 and SL 65 AMG or if a new V12 engine will be used in the next generation SL.
