Not too long ago, we drove the new MINI Cooper S to a 'big bang party' in Kuala Lumpur. But just when we thought that's about all the fun we could have had with the chic urban hatchback, MINI let us in on an urban trail featuring its latest icons.

The new MINI has grown in all areas, with 98mm and 28mm added to the Cooper's overall length and wheelbase respectively. The Cooper S experiences a greater growth, now measuring 3,850mm in length - 121mm longer than its predecessor.
The larger dimensions have brought clear benefits, such as roomier cabins and greater ride comfort. Boot size has also increased by 51 litres to 211 litres.
Despite being bigger, the new Cooper retains its cutesy and sporty proportions, and more notably, its hallmark driving dynamics. Aided by a myriad of technological features, such as MINI Driving Modes and Dynamic Damper Control (only on the Cooper S), the hatchback displays class-leading agility without sacrificing ride comfort. On the gravel-based circuit, the Cooper retains its composure even when faced with challenging, tight corners, rewarding drivers with a go-kart feel that has become synonymous with its forebearers.
Once on the open roads, the new Coopers were no letdown. Both models feature all new turbocharged engines - a 136bhp, 1.5-litre three-cylinder on the base Cooper and a 192bhp, 2.0-litre four-cylinder on the Cooper S. While the Cooper S charms with a highly addictive punch, the Cooper entices with its bubbly character, and is no less an eager performer in the city.
At press time, prices for the Cooper and Cooper S start from $145,300 and $170,300 respectively (including COE).
