Mitsubishi has released details of the facelifted 2016 Lancer, with design and feature improvements for its stylish and compact sports sedan. A fresh new front end exterior design features vertical LED accents and a bolder front bumper, whilst the rear retains the recognisable Lancer look. On the inside, there is an array of upgrades, with a redesigned center console as well as an improved new display audio system.
Mechanically, Mitsubishi has expanded the availability of its All-Wheel Control (AWC) all-wheel drive system across all trim levels. All AWC-equipped cars will also feature the same Continuously-Variable Transmission (CVT) offered on the Outlander Sport and Outlander. Every 2016 Lancer model also comes standard with a long list of safety features/technologies in every vehicle.
These items include Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA), Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control Logic (TCL), Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), a seven air bag Supplemental Restraint System (SRS), the list goes on.
New value-oriented models have been added to the lineup, including a reconfigured Lancer ES and new SEL trim level. However, there is some bad news for Lancer fans. Mitsubishi is dropping the 237bhp Ralliart model, after having already announced the killing off of the Lancer Evolution X.
