BMW has revealed the new, eighth generation 5 Series, alongside the new, all-electric i5.
The car has grown in length by 97mm to 5,06mm, in width by 32mm to 1,900mm and in height by 36mm to 1,515mm compared to the outgoing model. Its wheelbase, meawhile, has been increased by 20mm to 2,995mm for improved seating comfort, especially in the rear.

In the cabin, the 5 Series gets BMW's Curved Display, here merging a 12.3-inch Information Display and a 14.9-inch Control Display. This screen now runs BMW's Operating System 8.5, complete with a redesigned home screen with vertically arranged function icons on the driver's side which will allow users to access functions without having to switch to a submenu.
Both driver and passenger will also now be able to play casual games through these screens via a new AirConsole platform, allowing them to pass time while waiting for the battery of the i5 to charge, for example.
The BMW Interaction Bar, a feature first saw on the BMW 7 Series and i7, is also offered as an option here. What is standard, however, is a new fully vegan interior. This is accomplished via the use of Veganza leather on the seats, the dashboard, and the door panels, as well as the steering wheel.
