The Traffic Police will start installing new digital speed enforcement cameras at 11 locations across Singapore from 1st of March, reported The Straits Times.
A total of 20 such cameras, which will operate round the clock, are expected to be up by the end of this year.
In a press release, the Traffic Police said 278,545 motorists were caught for speeding last year - a 6.5 percent increase from 261,540 cases in 2013.
The cameras are equipped with enhanced features which can simultaneously detect up to 32 vehicles and can better identify vehicles. They also come with a wireless feature so there is no need to use film. They will be painted in bright colours with reflective tapes. Prominent signs warning of a speed camera zone will also be erected.
