More than 120 units of the newly developed Porsche 911 Cup have made their way to race teams competing in four one-make race series for the 2026 season.
The 911 Cup has made its recent European racetrack debut at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with teams from the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup and the Porsche Sixt Carrera Cup Deutschland coming together for the first time to unveil the newly developed cup car.
The new 911 Cup has already been shaken down earlier at the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia in Zhuhai, China, and the Porsche Carrera Cup North America in Sebring, Florida.
According to Porsche Junior Flynt Schuring, the new Porsche 911 Cup is noticeably faster than its predecessor
Participants completed over 2,300 laps of the Spanish Formula 1 circuit with the new Porsche 911 Cup on 2 March, clocking in significantly quicker lap times than the last season's car. "The new Porsche 911 Cup is noticeably faster than its predecessor. An extra ten horsepower might not sound like much, but it makes a significant difference. The optimised aerodynamics also make the new car even more fun to drive," says Porsche Junior Flynt Schuring.
The newly developed 911 Cup car is powered by a 4.0-litre naturally aspirated boxer-6 engine derived from the production 911 GT3's engine
Based on the 911 GT road models, the new 992.2 generation 911 Cup car features significantly revised aerodynamics, among other improvements. The water-cooled, six-cylinder, boxer engine now delivers 513bhp. The 4.0-litre naturally aspirated engine is based on the Porsche 911 GT3 production engine. Other specific equipment that the 911 Cup receives include larger brake discs on the front axle, along with a standard racing ABS system.
