A NIO ET7 has completed a 1,000km journey on a single battery charge.
The car set off from Shanghai and drove towards Xiamen, a city on the southeast coast of China. The drive is said to have taken a total of 14 hours. NIO states that the car arrived in Xiamen after having used 97% of the capacity of its 150kWh battery on the 1,044km trip. This was in addition to the car having to brave particularly cold temperatures that typically reduce the available range from battery electric vehicles.
The firm's 150kWh Ultra Long Range battery is compatible with its entire range of smart electric vehicles, and is currently available for users of its Battery as a Service subscription model which allows drivers to flexibly scale battery capacity during each stop to suit changing requirements.
Users of NIO vehicles will be able to make use of the 150kWh battery via the firm's chargeable, upgradable and swappable power service system. The firm states it already operates a total of 2,289 such Power Swap Stations worldwide, with 2,289 available in China and 33 in Europe. The firm announced on 16 December 2023 that it performed its 34 millionth battery swap operation.
