Think the ET5 Touring is not quite big enough for you?
NIO has yet another car for you to ogle at. Launched in selected markets in Europe is a new EL6 SUV.
The NIO EL6 comes with a 483bhp dual-motor drivetrain that will see it completing the century sprint in just 4.5 seconds The electric SUV measures in at 4,854mm in length, and 1,995mm wide (just a touch larger than the BMW iX3). It retains NIO’s pure, sophisticated, and progressive design language and houses its watchtower sensor layout seamlessly in its roof - a touch we first saw on the Volvo EX90.
In the cabin, the car gets a double-layer dashboard design which apparently makes use of sustainable rattan. NIO has gone to lengths to ensure the interior stays fairly minimalist: The air-conditioning vents are invisible here, while tailor-made acoustic fabric is utilised to enhance the audio experience while retaining a premium look. The sunroof of the NIO EL6 is also said to span nearly one square meter.
Adding to cabin comfort here is also a 20-way adjustable seat for the driver, said to utilise a total of nine layers of supporting materials. Passengers, meanwhile, will get to relax on NIO's Lounge Seats, with 22-ways of adjustment alongside a comfortable zero-gravity position that can be engaged with a single tap. These seats also offer ventilation, an eight-point massage system, and three-zone heating.
A 12.8-inch AMOLED display sits in the cabin, and the EL6 also gets NIO's NOMI AI-powered digital voice assistant housed in the round display above And aft of all this is a three-layer trunk with a total of 668 litres of volume. Fold down the 40:20:20 split rear seats, and storage space totals 1,430 litres.
The NIO EL6 gets as standard a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with a 201bhp electric motor at the front axle and a 282bhp one at the rear, giving the car a total system output of 483bhp and a peak torque of 700Nm. This allows the SUV to reach 100km/h in just 4.5 seconds.
The NIO EL6 additionally comes with NIO's proprietary Intelligent Chassis Controller, which works with the car's Continuous Damping Control to deliver comfortable flexible control over the vehicle's dynamics.
The SUV also comes equipped with NIO's Aquila Super Sensing Assisted and Intelligent Driving system, which is said to comprise a total of 33 high-precision sensors including long-range, high-resolution LiDAR seven 8MP high-resolution cameras, four 3MP enhanced cameras for surround view, one Advanced Driver Monitoring System, five millimeter-wave radars, 12 ultrasonic sensors, alongside redundant high-precision positioning units.
