Nissan electric vehicle sales crosses one million milestone
Nissan has announced that its global electric vehicle sales has surpassed the one million unit milestone.
The firm states that Europe accounted for almost a third of its electric vehicles, while the Nissan Leaf, launched in December of 2010, has seen more than 650,000 units sold worldwide. The Leaf is currently sold in approximately 50 markets around the world.
Adding to this achievement is the Nissan Ariya, sales of which first started in 2022. The all-electric crossover features the firm’s latest design language and its e-4orce all-wheel drive system and ProPILOT 2.0 driver assistance systems. The firms also sold 45,000 examples of the e-NV200 in Europe, before its successor, the Nissan Townstar EV was introduced early in 2023.
Nissan plans to launch a total of 19 electric models by 2030 as part of its Nissan Ambition 2030 long-term vision. The firm also plans to launch electric vehicles powered by its own all solid-state batteries come 2028. Two future electric vehicles have already been announced for the European market: The first is a new electric crossover previewed by the CHILL-OUT concept model, while the second is a compact electric vehicle that will become the entry-level vehicle in Nissan's electrified lineup.
