Nissan has set the Guinness World Record title for the fastest drift, using a specially tuned MY16 Nissan GT-R NISMO by entering a drift at a speed of 304.96km/h, at a 30-degree drift angle. Masato Kawabata, the Japanese drift champion, set the new world record during a special event that took place at Fujairah International Airport, U.A.E.
The specially tuned GT-R NISMO used to set the record was specially prepared by GReddy Trust and was tested extensively at Japan's Fuji Speedway facility with Kawabata at the wheel. The 4.0-litre engine packs an incredible 1,380bhp, with all the power going to the rear wheels. The car was setup for agility while maintaining stability and confidence-inspiring handling characteristics, allowing it to smash the existing record (218km/h).
