The extra power for the Corsa OPC Nurburgring Edition comes from a new ECU, a modified turbocharger, a sports exhaust with reduced backpressure and optimization for 100-octane fuel. Torque has also been upped to 250Nm, with 280Nm available when the overboost function is used. This enables the hot hatch to go from 0-100km/h in 6.8 seconds, and reach a top speed of 230km/h.
To help the Corsa cope with the power boost, Opel has fitted the car with a mechanical, multi-plate limited-slip differential that helps reduce wheel spin during cornering. The chassis has also been tuned, with the car getting a lower ride height, new Bilstein springs and dampers and a new lightweight front braking system from Brembo. Additionally, the ABS, Traction Control and Electronic Stability Control have been recalibrated to account for the increase in performance.
Opel will offer the Corsa OPC Nurburgring Edition in two exclusive body colours, red "Henna" and apple-green "Grasshopper", which goes along with the new 18-inch forged aluminium wheels in high-gloss grey. Other cosmetic enhancements include a front spoiler lip, a new stainless steel dual exhaust system and Nurburgring logos on the B-pillars, while the interior features Recaro sports seats with white stitching and unique sill plates.
