The two new engines are a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol unit which replaces the existing 1.8-litre naturally-aspirated engine, as well as a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol which will underpin the Insignia 4x4 model and have 250bhp, 30bhp more than the unit it replaces. The new Insignia 1.4-litre Turbo ecoFLEX produces 138bhp and 200Nm of torque, and allows the car to go from 0-100km/h in 10.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 205km/h. The car is available with a six-speed manual transmission, an engine start/stop system, power steering, an aerodynamic under-body and 17-inch wheels with low-rolling-resistance tires.
The Insignia 4x4 2.0-litre Turbo meanwhile, packs 250bhp and 400Nm of torque, an increase of 30bhp and 50Nm of torque over the outgoing unit. When mated to its standard six-speed manual transmission, the Insignia 4x4 2.0-litre Turbo is able to go from 0-100km/h in 7.5 seconds, and reach its electronically-limited top speed of 250km/h.
Other changes to the new Insignia range include an engine start/stop system, an aerodynamic under-body and low rolling-resistance tyres for the Insignia 2.0-litre Turbo front-wheel-drive model with 217bhp. There are also new Navi 600 and Navi 900 Europa infotainment systems featuring SD cards, a revised front camera that adds a Following Distance Indication function to the traffic sign recognition and lane departure warning systems, new available leather trims and a new dark metallic lacquer “Luxor" exterior colour.
