Opel previews the Astra GTC concept

The Astra GTC features aggressive looks to befit its sporting pretensions, with LED daytime running lights, muscular rear wheel arches, and swoops reminiscent of the Insignia saloon. There is also a roof-mounted spoiler, 21-inches wheels, and aluminium window trim.

Opel's Vice-President of Design Mark Adams says, "We wanted to express the most emotional side of the Opel brand and we believe this vehicle creates an appropriate visual impact to reinforce our dynamic sporty character."

Under the bonnet, the Astra GTC is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with "maximum horsepower and torque." Opel have not released performance figures, but it is expected to churn out between 285bhp to 300bhp, and will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

Other features on the Astra GTC include stop/start technology, a FlexRide suspension with a Watt's link in the rear and a limited-slip front differential for improved handling.
