With 320bhp and 435Nm of torque, the Opel Insignia OPC is the ultimate range topper amidst the Opel range. The new Opel Insignia OPC impresses with a restyled front and rear, signature OPC design elements like the distinctive sabre-tooth detailing at the front and the tailpipe trim integrated in the rear.
The OPC chassis is enhanced, with special focus on the reworked rear axle where engineers have modified around 60 percent of the componentry. In addition, noise and vibration behaviour is improved through numerous fine tuning measures.
With a six-speed manual transmission and all-wheel drive, the Insignia OPC Sports Tourer sprints from zero to 100km/h in 6.3 seconds before climbing to a governed top speed of 250km/h. With the limiter removed, the OPC with manual transmission climbs to 265km/h.
In addition, the Insignia OPC benefits from its electronically controlled 4x4 system. The all-wheel drive system incorporates a high quality clutch, operating on Haldex principles, and an electronic limited-slip differential. It constantly adapts and varies torque distribution seamlessly from nought to 100 percent between the front and rear axles.
In the cabin, Recaro performance seats, the OPC gearshift knob and a completely new main instrument panel and centre console give off a premium feel. Beyond basic information, drivers can see specific details like oil pressure and temperature, brake power and g-force, among others on an optional 8-inch display.
When equipped with an automatic gearbox, the new performance steering wheel with shift levers allows extremely quick manual shift overides. If the shift levers are idle for at least 12 seconds, the vehicle continues to drive in auto. This way Opel's new Insignia OPC comfortably integrates the advantages of a manual and automatic operation.
