The Peugeot 308 GTI will be available as a 5-door initially, and is powered by a 1.6-litre THP engine, which is the same unit used in the RCZ Sports Coupe, and produces 200bhp and 275Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox. The THP engine comes with a twin-scroll turbocharger, and a high pressure direct-injection system with variable valve and timing injection (VTi) technology. This enables the car to go from 0-100km/h in 7.7 seconds.
Peugeot has also tweaked the chassis of the 308 GTI, with a new suspension and steering wheel system setup. The front Macpherson suspension gets larger bearings with specific damper settings for the 22 mm rods, while the rear torsion beam suspension also gets the same damper treatment. Ride height has also been lowered by 10mm, and the 308 GTI has been fitted with 340 mm diameter brake discs at the front and 290 mm at the rear.
Cosmetically, the 308 GTI gets new 18-inch wheels with 225/40 R18 tyres, a rear spoiler, a lowered rear bumper fitted to a Perla Nera black diffuser and dual chrome exhaust pipes. There is also a lower front panel taken from the 308 CC, and a black carbon-style insert under the front bumper, as well as GTI badges throughout the car. The interior features sports seats at the front, aluminium foot rest and gear knob, leather sport steering wheel with a flattened bottom and thumb rests, and piano black fascia trim.
