Porsche has marked the start of production of the new all-electric Macan at its Saxony plant.
The manufacturer has invested close to €600 million ($879 million) in expanding the plant to accommodate production of the new electric SUV. Additions to the factory include a new body assembly line. The Saxony plant has been designed to offer maximum flexibility in the future, with petrol, hybrid and all-electric cars all being made on a single production line.
Following on from the Taycan, the new Macan is the second all-electric Porsche model on the market. Porsche plans to deliver more than 80% of its new vehicles with an all-electric drive - depending on customer demand and the development of electromobility in individual regions of the world.
