Porsche Taycan gets new 1,093bhp Turbo GT variant

1,093bhp. That's the maximum output offered by the newly unveiled Porsche Taycan Turbo GT. Surely the electric age is truly upon us.
Just a month after Porsche unveiled its updated Taycan, a new, performance-oriented variant is now being added to the electric sports sedan lineup. Alongside that ridiculous power output, the Taycan Turbo GT will also deliver a peak torque of 1,240Nm. For those curious, that means this top-of-the-line Taycan will accomplish the zero to 100km/h sprint in just 2.3 seconds.
But for the unafraid, Porsche has also prepared something extra special. Just like the 718 Cayman GT4 RS, this Taycan Turbo GT can be had with a Weissach package. Equipped as such, the Taycan Turbo GT shuns a host of equipment not required for track driving, alongside its rear seats, electrically-opening charge ports (so only one manually opening port remains), and its rear speakers and BOSE surround sound system, all so that it tips the scales at 70kg less than the "regular" Taycan Turbo GT does.
The net consequence of all this fat trimming is a century sprint time of 2.2 seconds. But a better way of looking at things is perhaps to consider that the Taycan Turbo GT equipped with the Weissach package is a grand total of 1.3 seconds quicker to 200km/h from a standstill than the already blisteringly quick 939bhp Taycan Turbo S.
And the Taycan Turbo GT certainly has the handling chops to match: The Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package has already earned the title of fastest electric series-production car at Laguna Seca, on top of having a pre-production version of the Taycan Turbo GT already set a new class record on the Nurburgring.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package gets a carbon fibre rear spoiler, while Porsche's Adaptive Sports Seats Plus can be ordered as an option
Aiding this performance on the Taycan Turbo GT is the use of carbon fibre for the B-pillar trim, the upper shells of the door mirrors, and the side skirt inlays. Step into the car and you'll also find full bucket seats made of carbon fibre, while at the rear, the soft-closing function of the tailgate has been omitted to save weight. Porsche's Active Ride suspension system here also gets a GT-specific tuning.
On the exterior, you'll be able to spot the Taycan Turbo GT from the other variants of the Taycan from its upgraded front spoiler, which comes complete with aggressive aeroblades. The model will also sport the coloured Porsche crest on its front bonnet as well as on the hub covers of its lightweight alloy wheels, a distinction from the Turbonite items that feature on the Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S.
Opt for your Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach package and you'll also get a sizeable fixed rear wing (a touch highlighted when Porsche first revealed pictures of the car making its way around the Nurburgring), which comes in a carbon-weave finish.
Porsche is also offering a total of six exterior colours for the Taycan Turbo GT, with Pale Blue Metallic and Purple Sky Metallic reserved exclusively for the first year of production of the Taycan Turbo GT.
The first examples of the 1,093bhp car are set to be delivered to customers from early 2024.
