Porsche has revealed the updated Taycan, imparting its variants with more power, range, handling prowess, as well as faster charging speeds.
The model is set to continue to be available in its conventional sports sedan body as well as the Cross Turismo (which will be available with an off-road package) and the sporty-yet-practical Sport Turismo.
The updated Taycan gets revised head lights, while a glass-like Porsche logo now features at the rear of the car
On the exterior, the car now sports slimmer head lights, which works with its re-profiled front wings to give the car greater visual width. These head lights also now feature high-resolution HD matrix head light technology, while at the rear, the Porsche logo situated below the rear light strip now appears as a glass-like item. This logo can also be specified as an illuminated piece complete with welcome/leaving animations.
Step within the Taycan's cabin and you'll find the instrument cluster, central display, and the passenger display all have been revised with an optimised user interface as well as additional functions.
The Porsche Taycan also now comes with the driving mode switch located on the steering wheel as standard, while a new control lever behind the steering wheel offers more intuitive control over the car's driver assistance systems. Cars specified with the Sport Chrono package and the Performance Battery Plus will also get a special push-to-pass button (which calls up to an additional 94bhp depending on the model for a total of 10 seconds) on the drive mode selector.
More significant, perhaps, are the changes to the drivetrains of the Taycan lineup.
In the base Taycan, peak power output with the new push-to-pass function has raised the car's maximum output to 429bhp, allowing it to reach 100km/h from a standstill in 4.8 seconds, 0.6 seconds faster that its predecessor. The range-topping Taycan Turbo S, meanwhile, now gets a peak output of 939bhp with launch control activated. This means the car can accelerate to 100km/h from a standstill in 2.4 seconds, 0.4 seconds faster than before.
Alongside this newfound power, the Taycan models also now offer up to a 35% increased WLTP range, while maximum charging speed for the car is now 320kW via an 800V direct current charger, 50kW faster than before. Porsche states that the fast-charging window of the new performance battery has also been significantly expanded, so the car can sustain charging rates of more than 300kW for up to five minutes, and very high charging capacities can be achieved more quickly even at low temperatures.
All Turbo and Turbo S variants of the Taycan now come with their badge crests finished in a metallic grey Turbonite
Finally, all updated Taycan models now get adaptive air suspension as standard, while Porsche's Active Ride suspension system is also available for all-wheel drive variants of the Taycan.
Porsche states that it has produced close to 150,000 examples of the Taycan since it was first launched in 2019, while this revised Taycan will arrive at Porsche Centres around the world from early 2024. We understand from Porsche Singapore that the revised Taycan will arrive here in the second-half of 2024.
