After unveiling the spectacular Porsche 911 Carrera GTS 30 Years Porsche Thailand Edition, Porsche is now set to bring an entirely different sort of machine to Thailand.
The firm has announced that the Ferry Porsche Foundation, the Audi Environmental Foundation and green startup everwave will now be bringing a smart refuse collecting boat to Bangkok, to aid in the cleanup of its canals and rivers. According to Porsche, close to 385 tonnes of plastic ends up in the sea in Thailand every year.
The trio of organisations will be headed to Bangkok after having spent five weeks cleaning up the Olt River in Romania of 40 boatloads of garbage. The boat will stay in Bangkok for several weeks, and comes equipped with intelligent sensors that will allow it to gather information on the quantity, type and composition of the waste.
This information will be used to push forward the necessary creation of structures in the region for the professional disposal of refuse in Bangkok.
