Porsche unveils the Boxster Spyder

Described as the "™purist form of the Porsche sports car - light, powerful, consistently open, and very efficient", the Boxster Spyder uses a 3.4 litre six-cylinder engine that produces 320bhp, 10bhp more than the standard Boxster S.
The Boxster Spyder can be specified with the optional Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) transmission, and the combination allows the Spyder to go from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds, on to a top speed of 267km/h. Porsche also claims that the Boxster Spyder only consumes 9.3 litres of fuel per 100km.
The Spyder has been given a diet, and weighs only 1275kg, the lightest of any current Porsche. The centre of gravity has also been lowered, and an all-new sports suspension has been added. The styling has also been tweaked, with a unique fabric soft-top, extra-low side windows, and two rear deck lid bulges which mimic those on the Porsche Carrera GT.
Other cosmetic changes include modified front and rear bumpers, 10-spoke alloy wheels, and revised air intakes. The interior of the Boxster Spyder also features an exclusive interior with sport seats, 'Boxster Spyder' branded scuff plates, and a body-colour centre console. The Boxster Spyder is set to be officially unveiled at the Los Angeles Motor Show, with sales to begin in February 2010.
