Production of BMW 5 Series Touring starts at Dingolfing

BMW Group Plant Dingolfing has kickstarted production of the new BMW 5 Series Touring. The newcomer is the first premium vehicle in its segment to feature not just a petrol, diesel, and plug-in hybrid drivetrain, but also a fully electric one. The BMW i5 Touring is the fourth all-electric model to enter series production at Plant Dingolfing in the span of three years.
Since the launch of the first generation in 1991, Plant Dingolfing has been the sole producer of the BMW 5 Series Touring with over 1.2 million models being produced over the years.
Approximately $116 million (€80 million) in investments were put into the plant for the new BMW 5 Series Touring.
The BMW 5 Series Touring is being manufactured alongside the BMW 5 Series Sedan, as well as the BMW 4 Series and 6 Series models.
