Proton is making its first foray into the EV market with its new energy vehicle arm, PRO-NET, launching the e.MAS 7, the brand's first EV.
The car is said to mark a new chapter in Malaysia's commitment to sustainable mobility, and is in line with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR), which plans to achieve net-zero emissions in Malaysia by 2050.
The e.MAS 7 is a result of over 7,000 man-hours from Proton's R&D engineers and 100,000km of testing across diverse terrain and harsh weather conditions. It comes with both Prime and Premium variants, which will be available in five colours: Platinum Silver, Turquoise Green, Slate Grey, Quartz Rose, and Lithium White.
Built on the Global Modular Architecture (GMA) platform and powered by a 12-in-1 intelligent electric propulsion system, it features the Cell-to-Body (CTB) battery architecture. The C-segment electric SUV also introduces the advanced Aegis Short-Blade Battery.
In its cabin, it sports ventilated car seats and ample legroom with 33 storage compartments. The 15.4-inch 2.5K resolution touchscreen Display Head Unit (DHU) has an integrated charging map that can locate over 1,700 charging points. The DHU is also paired with a 16-speaker Flyme Sound with WANOS System and 256-colour Ambient Lighting.
Offering a maximum output of 160kW (215bhp) and 320Nm of torque, the e.MAS 7 has a century sprint time of 6.9 seconds. The Prime variant features a 49.52kWh battery with a WLTP range of 345km, while the Premium variant offers a 60.22kWh battery extending the range to 410km. Both variants support DC fast charging, allowing for a 30% to 80% charge in about 20 minutes.
