Renault has revealed a new Rafale coupe SUV.
The new car measures a total of 4,710mm long and 1,860mm wide, placing it above the Arkana in Renault's lineup.
Just like the Renault Arkana, the Rafale sports a sloping windscreen at the rear, here said to tilt a total of 17 degrees, which Renault states is just right for aerodynamic efficiency, without impinging of rear passenger head room. This 17-degree sloping rear also allows the Rafale to make do without a rear wiper, so the car can keep its lines pure.
Over to the front, car gets a distinctive radiator grille, built around the brand's diamond logo. This new grille is made of a constellation of small diamonds that radiate from the central logo, in a similar manner to the one we recently saw in the new Renault Clio.
The Renault Rafale will be available in five body colours, including two previously unreleased ones. The first of these two, satin White Pearl, is said to draw attention to the car's body lines, with its satin look derived from the paint varnish allowing it to be resistant to UV rays and carwash rollers.
The second, Alpine Blue, is making its first appearance on a Renault model in this Rafale, here made a shade deeper than the one that it used on the Alpine A110.
The Renault Rafale will come powered by the firm's E-Tech hybrid drivetrain, which here utilises a 1.2-litre three-cylinder and two electric motors to produce a system total of 197bhp. A multi-link suspension design does duty at the front, while at the rear, a multi-link rear axle features.
The coupe SUV will also get an all-wheel steering system, said to be able to turn the rear wheels up to five degrees for raised agility and to bring the car's turning radius to 10.4m.
In the cabin the Rafale will get a 12.3-inch diagonal display on the dashboard, alongside a vertical 12.0-inch diagonal touchscreen in the middle of the console. A 1,470 mm x 1,117 mm Solarbay panoramic glass roof developed by Saint-Gobain also features, while the seats have reinforced sides to match the car's dynamic behaviour.
The all new Renault Rafale will be produced at the Palencia plant in Spain.
