Renault has revealed the new Scenic E-Tech electric ahead of its public debut at IAA Mobility 2023.
The new car now measures in at 4,470mm long and 1,864mm wide, and with a wheelbase of 2,785mm, is similar in size to this Renault Scenic we tested back in May of 2018.
This new Scenic, however, will be available with a 168bhp electric motor that develops 280Nm of torque. This motor is fed via a 60kWh battery which can be charged at a maximum of 130kW, and Renault estimates that the range for this Scenic will reach 418km.
This Scenic E-Tech electric is additionally available with a more powerful 215bhp motor that develops a total of 300Nm. Paired with a larger 87kWh battery, this more powerful variant will offer an estimated range of 610km.
At the front, the Renault Scenic E-Tech electric continues to house its logo within a horizontal front element, although the 'grille' in the Scenic E-Tech electric is now comprised of an array of superimposed small diamonds. These are said to appear and disappear depending on the ambient light and the angle from which the car is being viewed.
Taillights that are shaped as two arrows facing each other give the car added visual width at the rear. Look from the flank and you'll notice that the car now gets flush door handles alongside 20-inch wheels (19-inch wheels are also offered) that have been designed to raised aerodynamic efficiency.
Highlights in the cabin of the Renault Scenic E-Tech electric include the panoramic roof, which can be fully or partially opacified, allowing passengers in the back to lighten or opacify the roof in their area without affecting the occupants in the front.
A 12.3-inch horizontal screen sits on the dashboard, joined in an L-shape by a 12-inch vertical display in the middle of the console. These screens house Renault's OpenR Link multimedia system, which runs on Android Automotive OS 12 and comes with Google built-in.
Renault states that the system now offers more than 50 apps, available from the Google Play store. These apps include music quizzes and family games to journey planning, allowing users to make the most of your time in the car.
Renault states that the cabin of this Scenic offers up a total of 38.7 litres of storage, as well as a centre armrest which also slides forwards and backwards by 70mm. The vehicle will additionally continue to power its amenities including the infotainment system, USB chargers, mood lighting, temperature adjustment, and the aforementioned panoramic roof for 45 minutes when the vehicle is stopped or recharging.
Renault states that 24% of the Scenic E-Tech electric's materials are recycled, and 90% of its mass - including the battery - is recyclable. The all-new Scenic E-Tech electric will be assembled at the firm's Douai plant in France.
