Rolls-Royce's latest bespoke Ghost is inspired by the arcade

From ancient mural paintings, to exquisite flora, and even an esteemed client's four-pawed best friend, Rolls-Royce's Bespoke division has demonstrated that there are no holds barred when it comes to pursuing the exclusive visions of its esteemed clientele.
Its latest playful creation, however, draws inspiration from a source that has delightfully universal appeal: The arcade. And specifically, arcades from the 1980s.
The Black Badge Ghost Gamer was commissioned for a special client with a deep passion for early arcade culture
Dubbed the Black Badge Ghost Gamer, the bespoke car is unsurprisingly derived off the brooding Black Badge Ghost Series II, but draws heavy inspiration from the "8-bit universe of video vintage game" for a special client "with a deep passion for early arcade culture" (Rolls has only revealed that they are a tech entrepreneur).
The result? Its two-tone finish, with its main body in Salamanca Blue and the upper body in Crystal over Diamond Black, is already stunning to behold, but peer closer (not in person, of course) and its bespoke, intricate details will bring its name to life.
A unique character, nicknamed 'Cheeky Alien', was even co-developed with the client, and appears as a Coachline motif on both of the car's sides
Here, Rolls-Royce Bespoke states that it worked with the client to develop a unique character - nicknamed the ‘Cheeky Alien’ - which appears as a Coachline motif in hand-painted green alongside a pink 8-bit explosion on one side of the car; these colours are in yellow and blue respectively on the other side.
Other exterior highlights include the car’s illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy and Pantheon Grille, as well as its 22-inch seven-spoke forged Black Badge wheels, set against large discs with black brake callipers.
Expectedly, the interior of the Black Badge Ghost Gamer continues the retro-arcade frenzy, with bespoke 'Player 1' and 'Player 2' embroideries up front, and 'Player 3' and 'Player 4' ones in the rear; just above them, the 'Cheeky Alien' makes a return on all four head rests. Here's another fun fact: Even the colours used in the stitching were specifically selected to mimic the flickering hues on vintage arcade monitors.
The area between the two rear seats, dubbed the 'Waterfall', also sports two inlaid stainless steel 'flying saucer' spaceships set against a hand-painted lunar backdrop with stars dangling above in the 'night sky'.
Rolls-Royce has revealed that putting this 'battle scene' together required an incredible period of more than two weeks of development as it narrowed down the final, period-perfect hues.
Naturally, that's still not where things ends.
Greeting occupants whenever they look up is a special 'Pixel Blaster' Starlight Headliner, which boasts a formation of 80 bitmapped battlecruisers. Rolls-Royce has even reprogrammed the headliner's signature Shooting Star Function to simulate laser fire.
The Black Badge Ghost Gamer also features its own gaming-inspired Starlight Headliner and Illuminated Fascia
Up front, the Illuminated Fascia has also been uniquely reworked to evoke the 'Laser Base' backdrop of a number of retro games, and includes a gunship composed of 85 individual stars.
Rounding off the Bespoke commission is a quartet of Bespoke Illuminated Treadplates, which are engraved once more in 8-bit graphic lettering, and display classic prompts including 'PRESS START', 'LOADING…', 'LEVEL UP' and 'INSERT COIN'.
