Rolls-Royce unveils Spectre Lunaflair by Bespoke commission

Rolls-Royce has announced a one-of-a-kind Spectre Lunaflair (read more about the Spectre here). The unique highlight of the car, a Bespoke commission from a big client in the U.S.A, is the holographic paint finish that emulates a 'rainbow' hue.

The paint finish, which was inspired by the optical phenomenon of a lunar halo, took more than a year of tinkering and trials in a bid to meet the client's concept. The end product was achieved by applying seven layers of lacquer, including a specially formulated pearlescent coat, infused with fine flakes of magnesium fluoride and aluminium. The result is a deep metallic gloss under low light and a rainbow technicolour in bright sunshine.

The Spectre Lunaflair concept was loosely based on another Bespoke masterpiece, the one-of-a-kind Phantom Syntopia, which was revealed in 2023. Inspired by the dark iridescent Liquid Noir finish, a Rolls-Royce exclusive paint, the client requested for a light and luminous expression of a similar concept based upon their fascination with the lunar halo phenomenon.

The coalescence of ideas, where a past commission directly inspires a new concept, is testament to the power of the Bespoke programme. This innovative circle of inspirations continuously provides new opportunities for the evolution of their craft.

The Spectre Lunaflair's radiant bodywork is accompanied by a fully Bespoke-designed interior showcasing Navy Blue, White, and Peony Pink tones - hues that can be seen during a lunar halo. The colour scheme also appears on the seats, doors, and the car's Starlight Headliner, and is carried onto its dual-tone steering wheel, which sports a Navy Blue on its outer side and Arctic White on its inner side.

Only one Spectre Lunaflair will ever be produced. The one-of-a-kind paint finish is reserved exclusively for the commissioning client.
